Summiter

Turn Every Floor into a Summit

Every floor you take is part of a mountain.

Summiter shown on a Garmin watch

Every floor you climb is part of a mountain.

Your watch already counts floors. Summiter turns that number into something worth chasing: a climb up 51 real landmarks, from the Statue of Liberty to the summit of Mount Everest.

Thirty-one floors tops the Statue of Liberty. Keep going — the Eiffel Tower, El Capitan, Mount Fuji, the Matterhorn, Denali, K2 — and 2,903 floors after you started, Everest.

No GPS. No subscription. No account. Just the stairs you were taking anyway, adding up to something.

TRY THE FIRST TEN FREE, THEN BRING THE CLIMB WITH YOU

Summiter - Free is the man-made tier — Statue of Liberty to Burj Khalifa, 272 floors — nothing throttled, no time limit. Finish it and it hands you a transfer code. Type that into Transfer Code here and this app opens on CLIMB RESTORED: your campaign resumes on the landmark you had reached, not at zero. Used once, then ignored.

Everything above the Burj Khalifa, every mountain, is in this app.

HOW IT WORKS

One floor is about ten feet of ascent, so the climbs are honest: the Empire State Building really is 145 floors above the street. Open the app and you see the landmark you're on, a progress gauge and your lifetime floors. Top out, and Summiter puts the next one in front of you.

The 51 run from man-made (Great Pyramid, Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa) to natural (El Capitan, Angel Falls, the Grand Canyon) to high alpine (Fuji, the Matterhorn, Denali, Aconcagua) and the 8000ers, Annapurna I, K2, Everest. Each is its own line artwork, in its own colour, standing in a photographic band of the terrain it belongs to, with a short description of what you climbed.

TWO WAYS TO CLIMB

Cumulative, one continuous ascent, 31 floors to 2,903, Everest at the end.

Reset Per Milestone, every landmark demands its full height on its own, so Everest costs the whole 2,903 by itself. The set is 58,911 floors.

Switch whenever you like. The gauge rescales.

ON YOUR WATCH FACE, AND IN A GLANCE

Two complications: Summit Progress (campaign total) and Milestone Progress (how far into the current landmark, counted from zero). Milestone Progress also publishes the size of the current climb, so arc-gauge watch faces empty and refill with each landmark. Press and hold either to open the app.

A glance shows the same without launching anything.

IT KEEPS COUNTING WHEN CLOSED

Turn on Background Alerts and Summiter checks in on its own, top out during a meeting and your watch tells you which landmark you finished. Leave it off and it costs nothing.

STAIR MACHINE MODE

Stair machines don't register as floors on a Garmin. Summiter converts your steps to floors instead, at a ratio you set, 12 to 20 per floor.

BUILT FOR YOUR WATCH SPECIFICALLY

Not one layout stretched to fit. The main view is drawn at your display's real resolution, artwork and backdrop cut for it. AMOLED gets full colour on true black; MIP gets a version drawn for daylight. Instinct gets a purpose-built layout, not a round design with its edges cut off.

Settings on the watch or the phone: units, count mode, steps per floor, alerts, transfer code, reset.

PRIVACY

No location. No internet. No account. No ads. Your floor count stays on the device. Two Connect IQ permissions, both for features you turn on: background refresh, and watch face publishing for complications.

58 WATCHES, FIVE LANGUAGES

fenix 6–8, epix / epix Pro, Forerunner 165–970, Instinct 2 / 3 and MARQ. English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese, descriptions included.

Forerunner 245 / 245 Music have no automatic floor sensor; use Stair Machine mode to count a session from steps. Complications require Connect IQ 4.2 and are unavailable on older models.

START WITH 31 FLOORS

That's the Statue of Liberty, and you'll probably get there today.

What's new in 1.7

Summiter now runs on the fenix 9 family — fenix 9 43mm and 47mm, fenix 9 Pro 43mm, 47mm and 51mm, and fenix 9 Pro Solar 47mm and 51mm — with nothing held back: all 51 landmarks, both complications, the glance, background alerts, stair machine mode and five languages. 65 watches supported. On the fenix 9 Pro 51mm the terrain behind each landmark is drawn rather than photographic for now.
